Fall Arrest Lanyards and PFLs

When considering which PFL / SRL to buy for height safety, it is important to look at the exact environment where it will be used. There are numerous types of fall restraint lanyards but ultimately they have one purpose which is to prevent falls and protect life.

Some safety lanyards are designed only to be used vertically or up to a certain degree off-vertical. Others offer the flexibility of being used both vertically and horizontally.

Types include fixed lanyards, energy absorbing lanyards and work positioning lanyards. Some fall arrest systems also include personal fall limiters or self retracting lines. These allow a user to move around a limited space with no slack in the line thus limiting the fall distance should the worker trip or fall.

Lanyards from Reece Safety are made with premium materials. You can choose a fixed lanyard length while adjustable lanyards are also available.

Thought should also be given to the maintenance and inspection of the devices. While fall arrest blocks should be inspected at least every 12 months, or more often depending upon use and the environment they are being used. A trained service agent most commonly does this inspection.
